The quarter-final round at the 2026 World Cup kicks off Thursday with a fascinating match between France and Morocco in the Boston area.
France are looking to make it to their third straight World Cup final, and they've cruised through most of their matches at this year's tournament so far. After a rough first half of their opening game, Les Bleus have been largely unplayable, and even a rough-and-tumble last-16 match against Paraguay could not stop Didier Deschamps' men from advancing to this stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, Morocco's route to the quarters has been less straightforward as they drew their first game in the World Cup before scraping past Scotland and then steamrolling Haiti to finish the group stage. The knockout phase started with a penalty shootout victory for the Atlas Lions over Netherlands, followed by a 3-0 victory over Canada in which the co-hosts put a real scare in the reigning African champs before ultimately succumbing to their quality.

It's hard to see Deschamps messing with a successful formula here, although perhaps Désiré Doué starts in place of Bardley Barcola, who was underwhelming against Paraguay.
