Granit Xhaka makes Sunderland future clear amid Chelsea interest

Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka has told DAZN he has no intention of leaving Premier League outfit Sunderland, despite intense interest from Chelsea.
Xhaka's leadership and performances were a key element in Sunderland not just surviving in England's top flight last season, but thriving as they finished seventh in their first season back in the Premier League since 2017.
The midfielder has had a similar influence on his national side's progress to the World Cup quarter-finals in North America.
Xhaka scored in the Round of 32 penalty shootout as Switzerland overcame Colombia 4-2 to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in 72 years.

His form for club and country has promoted interest from several of the Premier League's 'Big Six' clubs, with Chelsea already approaching the Black Cats with their interest.
But speaking to DAZN Spain following Switzerland's victory, Xhaka moved to end any concerns Sunderland fans have about him leaving the club.
"Sunderland is my home - I felt that from day one. My family, my kids... we are all very happy there," said the 33-year-old.
"I'm sure it will be for a long time too, because I have decided to stay where I am. Family comes first, and I am ready to make history with Sunderland — let's see how far we can go," he concluded.
Xhaka will now hope to be able to fully focus on Switzerland's next challenge as they face current world champions Argentina for a place in the semi-finals.
