Inverness drop points to leave title race open as Stenhousemuir beat Alloa
The William Hill Scottish League One title race will go to the final day after Inverness failed to beat East Fife, needing a late Billy McKay equaliser to salvage a point from a 1-1 draw as Stenhousemuir closed in.
Michael McKenna fired the hosts into the lead 11 minutes into the second half when he ran onto a Pat Slattery cross to slot home.
But with the game heading into stoppage time, McKay’s fine strike found the net to earn Inverness a point which puts them two clear of Stenhousemuir, who edged out Alloa 1-0.
Dale Carrick got the crucial goal in the 66th minute, firing in on the rebound after Ross Taylor’s shot struck the upright.
East Fife’s point against the leaders kept them just outside the bottom two, with Hamilton just one point from safety after they beat Peterhead 3-1 for a third straight win in their late bid to stave off relegation.
Oli Shaw opened the scoring six minutes in after being sent through one-on-one, Kevin O’Hara doubled the lead early in the second half with a back-post tap-in, and Ewan Simpson wrapped it up four minutes from time.

Queen of the South came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Montrose as Benjamin Luissint struck a 76th-minute equaliser.
Ewan Loudon put Montrose head with 27 minutes gone and Taylor Sutherland doubled the lead just before the hour.
But Brennan Dickenson soon pulled one back before Luissint rescued a point.
East Kilbride need only a point from their final day fixture at home to Clyde to secure the Scottish League Two title after edging out Dumbarton 1-0 as second-placed Spartans were held 1-1 by Elgin City.
Bobby McLuckie’s ninth-minute goal was enough for the leaders at Dumbarton.
Mark Stowe lobbed the goalkeeper to put Spartans ahead in the 63rd minute of their match, but a long-range strike from Morgyn Neill earned Elgin a share of the points.
Forfar are sure of a play-off place after goals from Blair Alston, Craig Slater, Jake Sutherland and Stuart Morrison secured a 4-0 rout of basement boys Edinburgh City which put them five points clear of Stranraer, who were held 1-1 at home by Stirling.
Third-placed Clyde eased to a 3-1 win over Annan Athletic.
