Jeremie Aliadiere sends warning to Arsenal ahead of Champions League return leg against Real Madrid

Arsenal head into their second leg with Real Madrid on Wednesday looking to finish the job and eliminate Champions League royalty in Real Madrid.

Last week, the Gunners recorded one of their best-ever results in the competition when they defeated the Spanish giants 3-0 at The Emirates. Declan Rice's two amazing free-kicks and a Mikel Marino goal see the North Londoners with one foot in the semi-finals.

However, ahead of the return leg at the Bernabeu, former striker Jeremie Aliadiere has sent a warning to his former club, believing that you can never rule out Real Madrid when it comes to playing in the Champions League.

“It was an amazing evening on Tuesday - I never saw that result coming, I never thought Arsenal would beat Real Madrid 3-0!" he exclusively told DAZN News, thanks to NewBettingSites.uk

"The atmosphere at the Emirates and the Arsenal fans were so special, it was such a special moment and special evening. It was special but it might have been a one-off.

"Aside from the direct free-kicks, the game was quite tight, it could have been 0-0. You don't often score two free-kicks from a player who's never scored before!

"I have a little feeling that Arsenal will be in a completely different situation at the Bernabeu. There's still a part of me that thinks everything went their way in the first leg. A 3-0 advantage was quite flattering. Arsenal did play great football, but on a different night, Madrid could have scored.

“If there's one team and a bunch of players that can turn the tie around, it’s Real Madrid. I'm still very cautious about Wednesday evening.

"They've done it before, against a few teams. They always find a way. Even when you think they're done and dusted, they always manage to score a last-minute equaliser. Arsenal are going to have to be 100% focused.”

If Arsenal do complete the job in Madrid, they'll take their place in the competition's semi-finals as they look to lift the Champions League trophy for the first time in the club's history.

Yet, Aliadiere is cautious when asked if he thinks that Mikel Arteta's men can go all the way and finally taste European success on its biggest stage.

Adding: “I'd be very hopeful, very confident they can do it. If you beat Real Madrid over two legs, then you have to be regarded as a very, very strong contender, knowing Real have won it 15 times – they know how to win that competition.

“Saying that, though, when you see the last few teams remaining in the competition, it's likely to be Paris Saint-Germain next, which will be a tough, tough game. PSG knocked out Liverpool, which tells you how strong they are this season.

“On the other side of the draw, it looks likely to be Barcelona and Inter Milan, two incredible sides, both top of their leagues. It's going to be tough.

“The margins and the details are so small. This season, Arsenal have been amazing in the Champions League, but in the Premier League they have been on and off. We've seen great performances, but also some really poor ones as well. On their day, Arsenal can beat anybody, but on another day, they can have a tough game and lose.

"Are they going to be able to perform on the day every single time in the Champions League? You have to wait and see and really hope.”
