Jeremy Doku to miss Man City's opening match: How long will he be out for?

Manchester City will be without Jeremy Doku for the club's Premier League opener against AFC Bournemouth, but will that be the only match he misses?
Doku suffered a calf injury during last weekend's FA Community Shield, forcing the Belgian off at halftime of Man City's 3-0 loss to Arsenal.
On Friday, new Sky Blues manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that the ailment would keep Doku from playing in Sunday's match at the Etihad Stadium, but that the 24-year-old was the lone Man City player dealing with fitness issues ahead of the opening weekend.
“At the moment, the only one [unavailable] is Jeremy Doku,” Maresca said. “Then Matheus [Nunes] is back. Jérémy [is out], but the rest are all okay.”
Doku had a stellar season for the Sky Blues in 2025-26, scoring eight times as the team's primary left winger while providing a constant threat to opposing defences. He is set to play the same role for a re-tooled Man City side under Maresca in the upcoming campaign, and the new boss said Doku's spell on the sidelines should not last long.
“Unfortunately in the last game at half-time he was complaining about a calf pain," Maresca said.
“Idea was that he would come off, the change was planned and at the moment, [he’s out for] 2-3 weeks, no more than that.”
