The summer window has been as busy as usual, with a plethora of new faces arriving in England's top flight, as well as some huge deals involving some of the division's most familiar names.
One of the headline moves has been the signing of Elliot Anderson by Manchester City, who became Britain's most expensive footballer when the club paid £116m to bring him in from Nottingham Forest during the World Cup.
Having enjoyed his post-tournament break, the midfielder is raring to go in Manchester and will be donning an eye-catching squad number for his new club.
What number has Elliot Anderson chosen to wear for Manchester City?
Having spent the summer wearing the number 8 shirt for the Three Lions, there'll be a different digit on Anderson's back in sky blue.
The 23-year-old won't be wearing the same number as he did for Forest, because for Manchester City he will be donning the number 5 this season.
It's a move that has sparked comparisons to an iconic midfielder who made a career out of wearing that same number, Zinedine Zidane.
The French legend memorably wore the number 5 whilst at Real Madrid, which is part of the reason that the current occupant at the Bernabéu, Jude Bellingham, also chose the same number.
It means City's number 8 stays with Mateo Kovacic for 2026-27.
Who else has changed squad number at City?
There have been two major changes in City's squad number line-up ahead of the new campaign.
With James Trafford having moved to Leeds United on a permanent deal, Gianluigi Donnarumma will take his traditional goalkeeping number one jersey going forward, while his new back-up Gerónimo Rulli will wear 28.
The other change comes in defence and Marc Guehi's number 'upgrade'.
Since arriving in January, the England defender has worn 15 for his club, but following Nathan Ake's departure, he has now taken over the number 6 for the Citizens.
