Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is set to agree a new deal with the Red Devils following an upturn in form.
It was only two seasons ago where Mainoo was being heralded as the future of United's midfield, but the recent managerial upheaval at Old Trafford saw him vanish from the public eye.
Mainoo failed to be a permanent fixture during Ruben Amorim's tenure with the 21-year-old even requesting a loan move for more playing time.
However, since Michael Carrick took charge at the start of the year, Mainoo's career has been revived, and is set to be rewarded for his performances over recent months.
According to The Sun, a five-year deal has been agreed between Mainoo and United, with the midfielder set to be earning £150,000 per week.
Mainoo's new contract should not come as a surprise, he has become a regular fixture in Carrick's midfield and plans are being put in place to for the club to pursue a playing partner in the summer.
Speaking after United's 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday, Carrick had nothing but praise for his player's performance at Stamford Bridge.
“To step up and put so many phases to his game or sides to his game,” Carrick said.
“I thought he looked so composed, so calm, had a real good presence about him, defended well.
“Not easy when you’ve got really good players around you, and it was a good battle between him and Cole Palmer.
"So he had to be right at it tonight. He showed so much quality and composure in a tough environment, really, in the end to show us what he can do."
These peformances will bode well for Mainoo who will have one eye firmly focused on earning a place in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for this year's World Cup.
Mainoo featured in March's friendlies against Uruguay and Japan for the Three Lions, and with squad depth being paramount in an international tournament being played in very hot climates.
Tuchel seems set on Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson being his starters in the centre of the park, but Mainoo would be a worthy back up with his defensive abilities and eye for goal.
