Premier League preview: Man United face promoted test again

Can Man United bounce back against the Tractor Boys?

Just when everyone had got comfortable predicting Manchester United for a possible title challenge this season, and burying the ghosts of Ruben Amorim, they succumbed to an opening day shocker that not many saw coming. 

Their 2-0 defeat away at newly promoted Hull was the surprise result of opening day, as the Tigers really did a number on Michael Carrick's side, and it's led to doubts about how well this United side will do this term. 

The signing of Carlos Baleba will certainly shore up the middle of the park, and he should play some part as Carrick's men look to bounce back against another one of the season's promoted teams, Ipswich Town. 

When these two sides clash, you can't help but think of the infamous 9-0 win in 1995 for United, but they'd settle just for three points against a Town team who won their opening game at home to Sunderland. 

Anything less than a victory and the concern will quickly sweep through Old Trafford, even at this early stage of the proceedings.

Promoted sides look for early advantage 

Hull City were the talk of the league following their historic win over Manchester United, and that bonus win sets them up nicely for a trip to Coventry on Matchday Two. 

The Sky Blues were handed a baptism of fire on the opening day as they were thrown into the deep end at The Emirates and suffered a 3-0 defeat to the champions. 

However, a first home game back in the big time presents an early opportunity to get three points as they take on a fellow promoted side.

Be warned, though, as the Tigers come with their tails up and ready to ruin the day.

What will Villa show against the champions? 

Aston Villa's summer continues to see a revolving door at Villa Park as the squad from last season becomes almost unrecognisable. The extent of that turnover was exposed against Brighton, as they conceded four first-half goals in a crushing defeat.

Things don't get much easier as they prepare for their first home game of the season either, as they welcome Arsenal to Villa Park, who cruised to a 3-0 win over Coventry to open their title defence. 

The Villans will need a vastly improved performance if they aren't to suffer another damaging defeat, as they look to reshape their squad following a wave of departures and new arrivals.
