Liverpool could receive a big boost in the form of Mohamed Salah for this weekend's FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City.
Salah missed the Reds' 2-1 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion on March 21 with a muscle injury and did not join Egypt during the just-completed international break, but Arne Slot said the Liverpool icon is "close, very close" to returning to the field.
In fact, an appearance at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday may still be in the cards according to the Liverpool manager.
"[This is] another example of what makes him special because the moment he got injured there was a bit of a situation where they thought, 'I don't think he's available for City,'" Slot told LiverpoolFC.com. "But Mo looked at me and said, 'I think I will be available for City.'
"He just does so much for his body for such a long time that he recovers so fast. So, he will train with the team again [Thursday] and if everything works well then he's available to be with us at City."
Salah has 10 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions this season, which is his final campaign for Liverpool after announcing last month that he would be leaving the club after nearly a decade.
