Premier League team guide 2026-27: Preview, new signings and predictions

It's very much all change ahead of the new term, with NINE new managers taking charge of clubs, in a league that also sees the return of Coventry, Hull and Ipswich.

Arsenal will be the team to beat once again, but can any of their rivals - all of which are under new management - stop the Gunners from retaining their crown? 

Here's DAZN News' guide to all twenty teams and our predictions for the season ahead. 

Arsenal

The Gunners ended their two-decade wait for a Premier League trophy in 2026, and now the aim is to do something the club has never done: retain their title. 

With the most settled squad and manager in the league and having finally got over the line, it's hard to see any of their transitional title rivals usurping the Gunners. 

They are odds-on to be champions once again, especially after bolstering their engine room with the addition of Bruno Guimaraes. 

Prediction: 1st 

Aston Villa

Back in the Champions League for Aston Villa after their top four finish and Europa League win in 2026, but it's not been the most ideal summer at Villa Park. 

They've seen two of their best players leave for pastures new in Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers and will have to hope their new faces can fill the gap.

Another top-four placing, though, right now looks like a tough ask for Unai Emery. 

Prediction: 7th 

Bournemouth 

• Manager: Marco Rose 
• Last season: 6th

• Major signings: Alvaro Rodriguez (Elche) £21m, Antonio Silva (Benfica) £25.7m 

A first-ever European campaign awaits the Cherries after their best-ever Premier League finish, but they'll be led by a new man with the appointment of Marco Rose. 

It's another summer where Bournemouth have lost another key player in Marco Senesi, and this season has a much more difficult look to it. 

Rose will need to get a good start and make sure his squad copes with the extra games, or it could be a season of struggle at the Vitality. 

Prediction: 11th 

Brentford 

• Manager: Keith Andrews  
• Last season: 9th

Many had the Bees certs for relegation last year after such a turnaround at the club, but Brentford were one of the surprises of the season as they finished in the top half. 

Now it's the tricky second-season syndrome and seeing if both Keith Andrews and top scorer Igor Thiago can repeat the tricks of last term. 

They've kept the squad together and added some shrewd signings, so there shouldn't be any relegation talk, but there may not be a top half finish again, either. 

Prediction: 14th 

Brighton and Hove Albion

The Seagulls are flying back into Europe this season after another impressive top ten placing last time out, but can they juggle the demands of domestic and European football? 

They've smashed their transfer record to bring in Luka Vuskovic to marshal their defence, but will need to find more goals in the side after Danny Welbeck's departure. 

There could be a small drop-off from Brighton, but not enough to concern too many, especially if they sneak another top-half finish. 

Prediction: 10th

Chelsea 

• Manager: Xabi Alonso

It's hard to know what to expect from Chelsea this season after a summer where they've appointed Xabi Alonso as they look for some stability in the dugout and added another slew of new names to the squad. 

It means the Spanish boss has an over-bloated playing staff to cut down, which includes Britain's most expensive player in new signing Morgan Rogers and the eyebrow-raising recruits of veterans Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson. 

Somewhere amongst it all is a very good first XI; it's just questionable if Alonso can find it and get them gelling quickly enough and consistently enough to finish in the top four. 

Prediction: 5th 

Coventry City 

• Manager: Frank Lampard 
• Last season: 1st in the Championship 
• Top scorer: Hadji Wright (18) 
• Major signings: Frank Onyeka (Brentford) undisclosed, Loum Tchaouna (Burnley) undisclosed, Billy-Ray Cullinane (Brighton) free, Carl Rushworth (Brighton) Undisclosed, Caleb Yirenkyi (Nordsjaelland) Undisclosed

It's a return for the Sky Blues to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years, and there are arguably few fan bases who deserve some success more than Coventry's after such a rollercoaster ride to get here. 

Can they make it more than a one-year stay? It's not going to be easy, but they'll take heart in seeing what Sunderland did last term. 

City do have goals in them, and a boss who knows the league, but they lack a bit of depth at the moment and that may not be enough to keep them above the dotted line. 

Prediction: 18th 

Crystal Palace 

• Manager: Pierre Sage 
• Last season: 15th 
• Top scorer: Ismaila Sarr (21) 
• Major signings: Oscar Mingueza (Celta Vigo) free, Takehiro Tomiyasu (Ajax) free

All change for the Eagles following the end of Oliver Glasner's glorious reign in South London. He leaves the club with a Europa League campaign to navigate after three trophies in two seasons. 

The man charged with following his achievements is Pierre Sage, a new name to the Premier League, having impressed as boss of Lens in Ligue 1. 

He'll inherit a squad that still has enough in them to steer away from danger, but with another European campaign to stretch the squad, it won't be anything but ANOTHER midtable place. 

Prediction: 13th 

Everton 

• Manager: David Moyes 
• Last season: 13th 
• Top scorer: Beto (10)
• Major signings: Merlin Röhl (Freiburg) Undisclosed, Hayden Hackney (Middlesbrough) £24m, Tyrique George (Chelsea) £24m, Christian Norgaard (Arsenal) Undisclosed 

It was a welcome break from relegation concerns for the Toffees last term, and things look to be on the up in the second coming of David Moyes. 

The club look to have adapted well to their new Hill Dickinson home, and the aim now will be to finish in the top half and be in the mix for a return to Europe. 

With many of their rivals having European distractions and some clever signings in Hackney and Norgaard, there's an opportunity for Everton this season to progress once again. 

Prediction: 8th 

@realmadrid

Fulham 

• Manager: Alvaro Arbeloa  
• Last season: 11th
• Top scorer: Harry Wilson (11) 
• Major signings: Jonah Kusi-Asare (Bayern Munich) Undisclosed, Gonzalo Garcia (Real Madrid) £34m, César Palacios (Real Madrid) £10m 

Marco Silva has gone, and his underrated job at Craven Cottage may get its flowers if Fulham are to struggle this season. 

Alvaro Arbeloa is the new man in charge, with only a few months of Real Madrid experience under his belt and having to deal with the loss of both Harry Wilson and Raul Jimenez. 

Goals could be Fulham's issue, especially if new recruit Gonzalo Garcia needs time to adapt to Premier League life. It doesn't look like it will be a comfortable campaign in West London. 

Prediction: 16th 

Hull City 

• Manager: Sergej Jakirović
• Last season: Play-off winners 
• Top scorer: Ollie McBurnie (19) 
• Major signings: Jack Butland (Rangers) free, Oscar Zambrano (Maribor) Undisclosed, Matt Targett (Newcastle) free, Hidemasa Morita (Sporting CP) free, Konstantinos Tzolakis (Olympiacos) Undisclosed, Jens Hjerto-Dah (Tromso) Undisclosed 

The Tigers roared through the play-offs to a surprise play-off win and are back in the big time for the first time since 2017, but does anyone think they can stay there? 

Sunderland proved last year that with clever recruitment, you can navigate the Premier League, but they have proved to be the exception rather than the rule in the last few terms. 

Hull will be favourites for the drop and so far there's nothing in their summer spending that suggests otherwise. 

Prediction: 20th  

Ipswich Town 

• Manager: Gary O'Neil 
• Last season: 2nd in Championship 
• Top scorer: Jack Clarke (16)

A return to the Premier League at the first time of asking for Ipswich, but they'll be facing life in the top flight without boss Kieran McKenna, who's taken a break from management and handed the reins over to Gary O'Neil. 

The task is simple for the former Bournemouth boss: to keep the Tractor Boys in the division, and they've made some interesting signings to facilitate their aim. 

Changing tack from last time, where the club recruited a lot of EFL players, they've instead gone for experience and an injection of quality from abroad to aid them in their survival bid. 

Prediction: 19th  

Leeds United 

• Manager: Daniel Farke 
• Last season: 14th 
• Top scorer: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (15) 
• Major signings: Harry Wilson (Fulham) Free, Tarik Muharemovic (Sassuolo) Undisclosed, James Trafford (Manchester City) £43m 

Leeds managed to pull themselves away from relegation danger last term and finish in a mid-table position, and there looks to be a massive opportunity now to take the club on once again in 2026-27. 

They've made some very good moves in the window, recruiting Harry Wilson after his best-ever top-flight campaign and solving their goalkeeping issue with the arrival of the heir to England's goalkeeping throne in James Trafford.

With the nucleus of the squad still intact and a lighter schedule than those around them, Daniel Farke's men could aim for a top half place this term. 

Prediction: 9th 

Liverpool 

• Manager: Andoni Iraola 
• Last season: 5th 
• Top scorer: Hugo Ekitike (17)
• Major signings: Jérémy Jacquet (Rennes) £55m, Víctor Muñoz (Osasuna) £35m

Last season was one to forget for Liverpool as they put in one of the weakest title defences seen in recent Premier League seasons. 

Arne Slot paid the price for the disappointment and now the Reds head into a new year under the guidance of Andoni Iraola, who gets rewarded following his work with Bournemouth. 

Yet, there's much to do. With Mo Salah gone, the attack needs more zip, and Virgil van Dijk needs help at the back, too. With a relatively quiet window, it doesn't look like a title bid is on the cards and it may be another transitional campaign. 

Prediction: 4th

Manchester City 

• Manager: Enzo Maresca
• Last season: 2nd 
• Top scorer: Erling Haaland (38) 
• Major signings: Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest) £116m, Jeremy Monga (Leicester City) £10m

The Pep Guardiola era is over, and with it names such as John Stones, Bernardo Silva and possibly Rodri - so who dares follow an almost impossible act? 

Enzo Maresca is the answer, who returns following being part of City's treble-winning staff, but has massive shoes to fill in replacing one of the Premier League's greatest ever managers. 

Elliott Anderson has arrived as the poster boy for the new regime, but as we've seen with Arsenal and Man United over the years, the task of emulating such a big name at the club is often a fool's errand. Can the Italian change that trend? 

Prediction: 2nd 

Manchester United 

• Manager: Michael Carrick
• Last season: 3rd 
• Top scorer: Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko (12) 
• Major signings: Andrey Santos (Chelsea) £50m, Karl Darlow (Leeds) free, Youri Tielemans (Aston Villa), £35m

Michael Carrick gets his shot in the United hot seat on a full-time basis following a successful interim spell where he turned the club around and led them back to the Champions League. 

In doing so, the former midfielder has raised expectations at Old Trafford ever so slightly, with some hoping for a genuine title challenge in 2026-27. 

The signings to bolster the midfield will help that target, but the squad may need a little more if they are to make a title bid. 

Prediction: 3rd

Newcastle United 

• Manager: Matthias Jaissle
• Last season: 12th 
• Top scorer: Anthony Gordon (17) 
• Major signings: Bazoumana Touré (Hoffenheim) £42.5m, Sean Steur (Ajax) £23m, Aladji Bamba (Monaco) £34m, Lucas Hornicek (Braga) £25.5m

It's been a summer of unwanted upheaval at St James' Park, with the club going into the season under a bit of a cloud of uncertainty. 

Eddie Howe has left and been replaced by the unproven Mattias Jaissle, while the club have lost three of their major players in Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and skipper Bruno Guimaraes. 

If the Magpies don't make a fast start, it could be a really long season for a depleted Newcastle. 

Prediction: 15th 

Nottingham Forest 

• Manager: Oliver Glasner
• Last season: 16th 
• Top scorer: Morgan Gibbs-White (18) 
• Major signings: Xaver Schlager (RB Leipzig) free

After going through four managers last season, a campaign of calm should be the number one priority for Forest this term and in Oliver Glasner they seemed to have made a sensible appointment. 

The Austrian is coming off leading Crystal Palace to their best-ever era and a similar tenure at The City Ground would be very much appreciated. 

He'll be hoping to add a few more faces to a squad that still has plenty of quality and shouldn't have too many worries about relegation this year. 

Prediction: 12th

Sunderland 

• Manager: Regis Le Bris 
• Last season: 7th 
• Top scorer: Brian Brobbey (7)
• Major signings: Thomas Meunier (Lille) free 

No one would have predicted the remarkable campaign Sunderland had in 2025-26, where they defied the odds to not only survive on their return to the Premier League, but finish in the top seven and qualify for Europe! 

But following those achievements will be a tough ask. With a larger schedule and teams having worked the Black Cats out, the second season could be much more of a struggle for the Mackems. 

They should stay up, but may need a few new faces to prevent a nail-biting relegation scrap. 

Prediction: 17th 

Tottenham Hotspur 

• Manager: Roberto De Zerbi 
• Last season: 17th 
• Top scorer: Richarlison (12) 
• Major signings: Andy Robertson (Liverpool) free, Marcos Senesi (Bournemouth) free, Jan Paul van Hecke (Brighton) £52m, Mateus Fernandes (West Ham) £85m, Sandro Tonali (Newcastle) £100m

The good news for Spurs fans is that this year cannot be any worse than the calamity of last term, as the club just managed to avoid an embarrassing relegation to the Championship. 

De Zerbi has now had a full pre-season to work with and a raft of big-name arrivals to integrate into a squad already bursting with talent. 

If they get off to a good start, and without a European distraction, it could almost be a polar opposite campaign and a return to the top six. 

Prediction: 6th
