If you've been in a World Cup bubble since the start of June, you’d be forgiven for taking your eye off the ball on what’s been happening domestically while all the fun in North America has been taking place.
However, as we’ve been taking in an enjoyable major tournament, Premier League clubs have been beavering away planning for the new season.
With the transfer window wide open, clubs have been completing deals for 2026-27, and we’ve seen Elliott Anderson making a record-breaking move to Manchester City and Tottenham splashing nearly £200m on a new midfield.
They may be the headline acts, but there’s been plenty of business being done beyond those huge deals. DAZN News picks out ten moves that may have gone under your radar.
Hayden Hackney
From: Middlesbrough
To: Everton
Fee: £25m
As soon as Middlesbrough's promotion bid went up in smoke in that controversial play-off exit, it stopped being a question of if their star player would leave, only when and where.
A deep-lying playmaker who can play as a defensive midfielder, too, Hackney’s performances in the heart of the Boro midfield were a huge reason Kim Hellberg’s side reached the play-off final.
Hackney was named the Championship’s Player of the Year last season. He’ll add another intriguing option to the Everton engine room and could form a delightful partnership with James Garner for the Toffees.

Marco Palestra
From: Atalanta
To: Chelsea
Fee: £47m
With changes needed in the Chelsea backline following big-name departures, some replacements were needed, and the first comes in the guise of this young defender.
It’s quite the coup for the Blues, as those who are into their Serie A might attest; Palestra was one of the most promising youngsters in 2025-26. In fact, he was so good he was named the league’s best defender.
Only 21, he’s already an Italian international and should push Reece James (when fit) for a right-back berth – especially if Malo Gusto makes his expected departure.

Jack Butland
From: Rangers
To: Hull City
Fee: Free
Premier League experience is key for any promoted club, and Hull City wasted no time in adding some much-needed nous to their defensive unit with the free signing of Butland.
Still only 33, quite the modest age for a goalie, Butland has been Rangers’ number one for the past two seasons, and so good were his displays that there had been some mummerings of an England recall.
The opportunity to add to his nine caps never materialised. However, he still brings a wealth of Premier League experience to the table from his days at Stoke City and Crystal Palace. It could prove to be a shrewd move for all parties.
Víctor Munoz
From: Osasuna
To: Liverpool
Fee: £35m
It feels like a ‘proper’ new era at Anfield following the arrival of Andoni Iraola as boss and the departure of Mohamed Salah, and the Reds have begun reshaping their attack with the acquisition of Munoz.
Currently with the Spanish World Cup squad, the 22-year-old is a product of the Real Madrid youth academy, but it was after his move to Osasuna last year that made people really sit up and take notice.
A direct winger, predominantly off the right, his style isn’t unlike the former Egyptian King, but he’s probably seen as part of a new Liverpool attack rather than a like-for-like replacement.

Bazoumana Touré
From: Hoffenheim
To: Newcastle
Fee: £42m
The Magpies have already seen the departures of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, so some new faces were urgently required to beef up the Newcastle squad. Enter Bazoumana Touré.
A left winger, who in theory looks like a replacement for the Barcelona-bound Gordon, Toure was part of the Ivory Coast’s World Cup squad and played in three of the African’s four games in North America.
A high-speed, explosive winger, the 20-year-old has the ability to really light up St James’ Park.
Nathan Ake
From: Manchester City
To: Fenerbahçe
Fee: £7.5m
Manchester City really are having a good clear-out now that the Pep Guardiola era has come to a close. With Bernardo Silva and John Stones already out the Etihad door, Nathan Ake has now followed them.
An exit confirmed mere hours after the Netherlands were eliminated from the World Cup, Ake has joined the plethora of former Premier League names that have been seduced by the Turkish Super Lig and Fenerbahçe.
The experienced defender, who won four Premier League titles during his time in Manchester, will join a squad that already includes familiar faces such as N’Golo Kante, Marco Asensio and Fred.
Marc Cucurella
From: Chelsea
To: Real Madrid
Fee: £51.8m
Chelsea’s defence will appear a little less villainous in 2026-27 without pantomime baddie Cucurella winding up opponents.
Where has he gone, you may ask? Well, where any player who dabbles in the dark arts will now feel at home, with the ultimate lord of the s**thousery, Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid.
The Spanish World Cup winner, who became a bit of a cult hero at Stamford Bridge, will form part of a new backline for the Spanish giants alongside fellow newbie Ibrahima Konate.

Marcos Senesi
From: Bournemouth
To: Tottenham
Fee: Free
Tottenham are making a concerted effort to try and avoid another dismal campaign by making bold moves in the transfer market. The big money has gone on Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, but they’ve also picked up this defender on a smart freebie.
Senesi was a late call-up to Argentina’s World Cup squad and has impressed during his time at Bournemouth as a neat ball-playing centre-back. Last year, he was part of a unit that racked up 11 clean sheets and Spurs beat off several clubs for his signature.
With Paul van Hecke also through the door, Roberto De Zerbi’s Spurs will be very different this season.

Pascal Struijk
From: Leeds United
To: Brighton and Hove Albion
Fee: Free
An eyebrow-raiser for those in Yorkshire, who would have been somewhat surprised to see Struijk end his tenure with Leeds and move down to the south coast.
The centre-back moved to Elland Road in 2019 following a trial and racked up nearly 200 appearances, including two Championship-winning promotions with the club.
However, he’ll now slip into the Seagulls backline having signed a five-year deal with the club upon the end of his contract with Leeds.

Youri Tielemans
From: Aston Villa
To: Manchester United
Fee: £34m
No sooner had Belgium been knocked out of the World Cup than Youri Tielemans was sorting his domestic future out with a surprise move to Old Trafford.
United triggered the midfielder's release clause at Villa and swooped to freshen up that area of the squad along with fellow new arrival Andrey Santos.
A player with a proven Premier League pedigree and an FA Cup-winning goal, it could turn out to be a clever move from the Red Devils.
