Both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are looking up at Chelsea, as the English side sit comfortably atop their group ahead of the penultimate matchday of the 2022-23 UEFA Women's Champions League group stage.
The Blues are on 10 points ahead of Friday's games, three above PSG and five more than third place Madrid. With Chelsea facing Albanian upstart Vllaznia — who have zero points, zero goals, and a -19 goal difference — on Friday, it's a safe bet that the London side will wrap up one of the two quarterfinal spots on offer in Group A.
That leaves PSG and Real Madrid to fight over the second spot, with the Parisians in the driver's seat. A PSG win on Friday would eliminate the Spanish club, but any kind of result for Real Madrid would put them in good shape ahead of a Matchday 6 game against already eliminated Vllaznia.
To put it simply, Friday's match will likely determine who from Group A joins Chelsea in the quarterfinals.
