Five Serie A deals that could still happen before the transfer window closes

Serie A has returned, but Italy’s sporting directors have no intention of allowing actual football to interrupt the important business of exchanging proposals, inventing loan formulas and ringing around Europe about whichever players remain available.
With the window closing on September 1, these five deals could yet enliven the final days.
Rafael Leao to Roma
Roma have revived their interest in Rafael Leao, with the wonderfully ambitious idea of exchanging loan deals involving Matias Soule floated as a possible solution.
Milan would prefer a permanent sale or a loan containing an obligation to buy, having reportedly reduced their valuation from €60 million to around €45 million. Leao, who scored nine Serie A goals last season, has expressed a desire for a new challenge after seven years at San Siro.
His wages are an obvious obstacle, while the Portuguese forward would reportedly rather move abroad. There are no formal talks yet, but this would comfortably be deadline day’s most entertaining piece of intra-Serie A mischief.

Goncalo Inacio to Milan
Ruben Amorim would quite like to reunite with another player he coached at Sporting.
Goncalo Inacio is Milan’s leading central-defensive target, although Barcelona could yet spoil the reunion. The left-footed Portugal international recently lost his place in Sporting’s starting line-up amid suggestions that a transfer was close.
Inacio completed 90 per cent of his league passes last season and is comfortable progressing possession from either a back three or four. Sporting have already sold Ousmane Diomande and Morten Hjulmand, however, and can point interested parties towards his €60 million release clause.

Alexander Sorloth to Juventus
Luciano Spalletti spent months pushing Juventus to sign Randal Kolo Muani, only to criticise him after his competitive debut and immediately request another centre-forward.
Juventus have consequently reopened talks with Atletico Madrid over Alexander Sorloth. The 6ft 5in Norwegian scored 13 La Liga goals last season and would provide the penalty-box presence Spalletti believes his attack lacks.
A swap involving Nico Gonzalez, who spent last season on loan at Atletico and wants to return, could remove several complications at once.
Gabriel Jesus to Napoli
Massimiliano Allegri wants another striker despite comparing Rasmus Hojlund to Harry Kane, which presumably counts as both praise for Hojlund and an urgent request for reinforcements.
Gabriel Jesus is not considered a starter at Arsenal and could provide Napoli with a versatile alternative across the forward line. The Brazilian scored seven times in an injury-disrupted 2025-26 campaign but remains a clever presser and link player.
Napoli must first sell. Noa Lang and Lorenzo Lucca are the likeliest departures after Allegri’s side began their centenary season with a 2-0 win at Genoa.

Moise Kean to Como
Como have submitted an improved €40 million offer, including bonuses, for Fiorentina striker Moise Kean.
Fiorentina insist they have no financial need to sell and would require Kean to request a transfer before searching for an equal or superior replacement. His omission from the starting XI during Monday’s 4-0 defeat at Roma nevertheless supplied transfer detectives with useful material.
Kean scored eight league goals last season, down from 19 in 2024-25. Como clearly believe the earlier version can be restored – and have enough money to make Fiorentina’s resistance uncomfortable.
