The seven best Premier League signings of the summer

Much debate surrounds who has been the best signing made by Premier League clubs this season.
Several new recruits have caught the eye, while a number have also flopped to varying degrees so far.
Here, DAZN News reporter Ross Heppenstall picks out six stars who have shone brightly in their new surroundings.
Hugo Ekitike (Liverpool)
Arne Slot splurged the best part of £450million on new signings in the biggest-ever spending spree by a Premier League club.
Not too much has gone right since, with a British record transfer fee of £125million lavished on Alexander Isak yet to pay off.
Florian Wirtz has also struggled since moving to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen for a cool £116million, but Ekitke has done the business.
Signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69million, the France striker has seven Premier League goals to his name.
Four of those have come in Liverpool’s last three games, suggesting Ekitike is ready to hit top gear, if he has not already.

Rayan Cherki (Manchester City)
The midfielder cost just over £30million when he arrived from Lyon in the summer.
That the fee is being described in some quarters as a steal by City says much for Cherki’s impact on Pep Guardiola’s side.
The 22-year-old Frenchman’s talent has been clear to see and he took centre stage, a role he seems born for, during Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final 2-0 win over Brentford.
He scored from the edge of the box in the latest piece of brilliance from the midfielder, whose Rabona cross for Phil Foden against Sunderland could be the assist of the season.
Guardiola hailed Cherki as an “exceptional player” following the Brentford victory, saying: “I never saw Messi doing these kind of things.
“The biggest quality of Messi is the simplicity. The simple things he does perfectly.
“The big talent that Rayan is, he has to learn a lot of these things. But he's so young.”
Cherki has claimed six Premier League assists this season – only Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has more with seven.

Estevao (Chelsea)
The 18-year-old is universally regarded as one of the best young players in the world.
He arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer from Palmeiras and has mainly operating as a right winger.
He has shone in the Champions League with three goals across five games, including a stunning effort in the 3-0 demolition of Barcelona.
But in the Premier League, Estevao has only started six of Chelsea’s 16 games, coming on for just nine minutes against Everton last week, before he was omitted from the squad for the Carabao Cup win over Cardiff.

Bryan Mbuemo (Manchester United)
The £65million acquisition from Brentford has made his mark at Old Trafford, scoring seven times, including a goal at the Kop end in United’s 2-1 win at bitter rivals Liverpool.
The Cameroon forward, 26, perfectly fitted United’s policy of signing Premier League-ready attacking players and is proving an astute capture.
Mbeumo and fellow new arrival Matheus Cunha have brought purpose and direction to United's attack as well as a greater goal threat.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Everton)
The Leicester City academy graduate joined the Toffees from Chelsea in the summer for a fee of about £25million.
Dewsbury-Hall’s educated left foot has proved a potent weapon for David Moyes’ side as he has scored four times already.
Last month, Dewsbury-Hall scored the only goal for 10-man Everton as they beat Manchester United for only the second time since August 1992 at Old Trafford.
He surged to the edge of the area and sent a curling effort past goalkeeper Senne Lammens into the top corner, sparking wild celebrations and securing his place in Everton folklore.

Granit Xhaka (Sunderland)
The Switzerland midfielder Xhaka was one of several summer signings following Sunderland's promotion from the Championship through the play-offs.
The 33-year-old, who joined from Bayer Leverkusen, was installed as captain, and his leadership has had a clear impact on a side who have taken the top flight by storm.
Sunderland are currently eighth in the table - just two points off the top four - following their 1-0 derby win against Newcastle last Sunday.
Nobody has impressed more than former Arsenal man Xhaka, whose impact in the middle of the park has been clear to see.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Leeds United)
Eyebrows were raised when Leeds signed Calvert-Lewin, but he is beginning to defy the doubters in some style.
The former Everton striker, 28, has scored in his last four Premier League games to prompt calls for a shock inclusion in England’s World Cup squad.
He had struggled badly for fitness and form in recent seasons, yet Daniel Farke was happy to hand him a three-year deal after Calvert-Lewin rejected offers from clubs in the Champions League.
After his point-saving goal at Brentford last Sunday, talk of Calvert-Lewin earning an England recall intensified.
Farke said: “Dominic’s definitely one of the best English strikers in the Premier League.
“For him there is no limit and of course he has a chance with England.
“He’s a fantastic guy and has hardly missed a training session since he came here.”
