Champions League Wednesday wrap-up: More Haaland goals, Newcastle open the floodgates and PSG win clash of titans

Matchday 2 of the Champions League came to a close on Wednesday with tight matches across the board, except in one notable case.
Here are three of the bigger talking points from Wednesday's games.
Newcastle explode for four goals
Newcastle United have struggled for goals in the early stages of the Premier League, scoring just four times in six matches so far.
The lack of production has led to predictable results for the Magpies, who are 15th with just one win, three draws and two losses as their struggles to replace Alexander Isak's output continue. The team's woes comtinued into the first matchday of the Champions League as they were only able to put one goal past Barcelona in a 2-1 loss to the La Liga giants at St James' Park last month.
However, their fortunes took a turn for the better on Wednesday at Union Saint-Gilloise, as they battered the Belgian champions 4-0 thanks to a pair of successful penalties from Anthony Gordon and one goal apiece from Nick Woltemade and Harvey Barnes.
The outburst against Union SG matches Newcastle's total goals for the season in the Premier League so far, and Eddie Howe will be hoping that it's a sign of things to come.
Haaland cannot stop scoring
It's hard to be surprised at Erling Haaland's scoring exploits by now, as the big Norwegian is well-known for his ability to pour in goals at an absurd rate.
The Manchester City striker is already pulling away in the Premier League Golden Boot race, with eight goals from six games so far. That's double the next best player, and we wouldn't put it past him to increase that cushion as the season rolls on.
While he's not yet at the top of the Golden Boot race in the Champions League, Haaland inched closer to the top scorers with another pair of goals on Wednesday in City's 2-2 draw at Monaco.
He's got three goals from two games so far, and he'll surely have scoring leader Kylian Mbappé (5 goals) looking over his shoulder for the remainder of the competition.
PSG leave it late against Barcelona
There's no doubt that Paris Saint-Germain's visit to the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona on Wednesday was the glamour match of Matchday 2, and it lived up to the hype as both sides took turns throwing shots at one another in a true battle of footballing heavyweights.
The hosts struck first, with Ferran Torres scoring in the 19th minute before Senny Mayulu equalised late in the first half to set up a barnstorming final 45 minutes of action.
Neither side could claim the advantage until the 90th minute, when PSG's Gonçalo Ramos received a lovely cross from Achraf Hakimi and blasted the ball past Wojciech Szczęsny to give the Parisians the 2-1 victory.
It was a fitting end to an entertaining match as the visitors were just a bit better than Barcelona on the day.
