On Monday afternoon, promotion contenders Harrogate Town welcomed Lee Cattermole's Gateshead to Wetherby Road, with the home side victorious after a last-minute own goal.

However, it was not the late drama that grabbed the headlines, but the ridiculous goal scored by the Heed's shotstopper Pete Jameson.

When Gateshead's right back Keon Lewis-Burgess passed the ball back to his keeper, he could not have predicted what would happen next.

As Jameson leant back to drive the ball up the pitch, his kick bounced just short of the Sulphurites' penalty area before completely surpassing his opposite number, Rory Watson, who could do nothing but watch the ball find the back of the net.

While Jameson was keen not to celebrate, his teammates rushed back to bundle him in jubilation, with the Heed 1-0 up.

Unfortunately for Cattermole's side, they were unable to hold onto their lead as Josh Hmami put Harrogate ahead before Ashley Boatswain's own goal sealed victory.
