If you were to choose a World Cup group with the highest potential for drama, Group B would be a solid choice.
Featuring England, the United States, Wales and Iran, nearly every fixture in this group provides a built-in narrative. Whether it's the Home Nations showdown of Wales vs. England, the politicial undercurrent of Iran vs. USA, or the colonial history of England vs. United States, several matches in the group come with ready-made storylines on top of the massive stakes already at play in the World Cup.
The Three Lions (ranked fifth in the world) were drawn as the top seed in the group, but the reality is there are no weak links in Group B. Along with England, the Americans (16th), Welsh (19th) and Iranians (20th) form arguably the toughest group of any at Qatar 2022 — based on FIFA's world rankings, at least.
