AEW Dynamite results: Jon Moxley named as Will Ospreay's first world title challenger

Ospreay appeared on Dynamite for the first time since defeating Kenny Omega to become world champion, but he did not have to wait long to discover his next major test.

Moxley was revealed as Ospreay's challenger for AEW All Out on September 26 after the pair came face-to-face at the end of Wednesday's show.

It capped a huge night for the former AEW World Champion, who also defeated AR Fox to become AEW's all-time wins leader.

Elsewhere, Swerve Strickland, Austin Creed and Kofi successfully defended the AEW World Trios Championship, Darby Allin retained the TNT Championship and Mercedes Moné's celebration was interrupted by Thekla.

There was also a huge challenge issued for All Out, with Adam Copeland and Christian Cage proposing a three-way tables, ladders and chairs match against FTR and the Young Bucks.

Jon Moxley to challenge Will Ospreay at AEW All Out

The biggest development of the night came after Ospreay had already secured victory in the 10-man tag team main event.

Ospreay teamed with Andrade El Ídolo and United Empire members Henare, Francesco Akira and Callum Newman against The Demand's Ricochet, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun alongside Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors.

The AEW World Champion eventually secured the victory for his team by hitting Connors with the Hidden Blade.

Chaos followed after the bell, with Kidd attacking Ospreay before the Death Riders arrived.

Moxley intervened when Kidd attempted to use a chair on Ospreay and eventually found himself alone in the ring with the new champion.

He picked up the AEW World Championship and placed it on Ospreay's shoulder before the huge announcement appeared: Ospreay will defend the title against Moxley at All Out on September 26.

It will be Ospreay's first major championship defence since defeating Omega at Wembley Stadium.

Will Ospreay addresses Kenny Omega after All In

Ospreay had opened the show by addressing the fans for the first time since the biggest victory of his AEW career.

The new champion reflected on defeating Omega at All In and made clear that he would be willing to face his rival again.

Ospreay also spoke about joining the list of stars to have held the AEW World Championship before declaring himself the new standard in the company.

His celebration was interrupted by Ricochet and The Demand before Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors joined them, leaving Ospreay facing a potential five-on-one attack.

Henare, Francesco Akira and Callum Newman arrived to support Ospreay, setting the stage for the night's main event, with Andrade later revealed as their fifth partner.

Jon Moxley makes AEW history

Moxley had already enjoyed a significant night before confronting Ospreay.

The former AEW World Champion faced AR Fox in a Continental Championship Eliminator match, with Fox pushing Moxley during a competitive contest.

Fox connected with a 450 splash late in the match, but Moxley survived before eventually hitting the Death Rider to secure the victory.

The result made Moxley AEW's all-time wins leader before his attention turned towards an even bigger prize at the end of the night.

Huge tag team title match proposed for All Out

The AEW World Tag Team Championship picture also took a major turn following All In.

The Young Bucks addressed their defeat to champions Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at Wembley before being interrupted by FTR.

Copeland and Cage then appeared and proposed settling the rivalry at All Out in a three-way match involving all three teams.

Copeland made clear that the match would involve tables, ladders and chairs, potentially setting up one of the biggest matches on the All Out card.

Swerve Strickland, Kofi and Austin Creed retain

Swerve Strickland, Austin Creed and Kofi made their first successful defence of the AEW World Trios Championship against The Rascalz.

Creed and Kofi were making their first Dynamite appearance after their surprise arrival at All In, where they joined Swerve and won the Trios Roulette Royale to become champions.

The Rascalz pushed the new champions hard, but Swerve hit Dezmond Xavier with a House Call before Kofi secured the pinfall.

The Young Bucks then confronted Creed and Kofi as the champions celebrated.

Mercedes Moné confronted by Thekla

New AEW Women's World Champion Mercedes Moné celebrated her All In victory over Willow Nightingale, but her attention quickly turned towards another potential challenger.

Thekla interrupted from the crowd and made clear that she wants the AEW Women's World Championship back.

It immediately established another potential title programme for Moné following her victory at Wembley.

Darby Allin retains TNT Championship

Darby Allin successfully defended the TNT Championship against Mark Davis despite being attacked before the opening bell.

Davis dominated significant periods of the contest, but Allin fought back and eventually landed consecutive Coffin Drops to secure the victory.

Allin's night was not finished, however, as Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta attacked after the match.

Steven Borden attempted to make the save before the returning Josh Alexander joined the attack, leaving the Don Callis Family standing tall.

What happened on AEW Dynamite?

Elsewhere on the show, MJF promised that payback was coming for Ospreay following his failure to win the Casino Gauntlet at All In.

Chris Jericho also became involved in a backstage fight with Nick Wayne, while TBS Champion Persephone and Britt Baker outlined their new partnership.

Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight were also told by Don Callis that they will team together against Juice Robinson and Ace Austin on Collision.

But the biggest development belonged to Ospreay and Moxley, with the two former world champions now set to collide for AEW's biggest prize at All Out.
