Dae'Quan Wright: First NFL player to go back to college football

On Sunday, the Cleveland Browns waived tight end Dae'Quan Wright, who reached an agreement to play for LSU if he clears waivers, per agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln.
Wright was an undrafted free agent and signed with the Eagles shortly after the Draft.
On Aug. 11, the Browns claimed him on waivers.
Wright hadn't practiced in over a week due to an injury, but did dress up for the game against the Bills on Saturday.
The 22-year-old did not appear in either of Cleveland's preseason games.
After the game on Saturday, Todd Monken touched upon the matter.
"I wondered why Lane Kiffin reached out to me a week ago; now I know. I didn't call him back. I guess I should have."
Wright played for Kiffin at Ole Miss in 2024 and 2025, where he had 66 receptions, 1,029 yards and nine touchdowns.
On Monday's press conference at LSU, Kiffin shared his thoughts on the situation.
"So, you know, we have you know made a decision to recruit some kids around the country, and through these multiple injunctions around the country, which, this is not a first time in college sports.
"A group of players were granted a fifth year of eligibility, in multiple sports. And through them winning their injunction and entry into the portal, they’re available to recruit," said Kiffin.
The former Ole Miss player entered the transfer portal last Wednesday after he was granted a restraining order against the NCAA, making him eligible for his fifth year.
Among the group of players granted the order by a Louisiana court that entered the portal were also the following:

Per reports, Hendrick has committed to UCLA , Johnson to the University of South Carolina and Harris to LSU .
