Dabo Swinney: 'We just stay in our lane' ahead of LSU matchup

The side from Baton Rouge has been making headlines due to its intention to sign former NFL players after the new five-year eligibility rule imposed by the NCAA.

Both head coaches, Dabo Swinney and Lane Kiffin, have very different mentalities about how a team should be managed.

Swinney: How the whole NFL-to-NCAA pathway is 'embarrassing'

Clemson's head coach has been famously known for being "old school" and keeping his coaching method simpler and his players with their feet on the ground.

Until last season, Swinney had avoided using the transfer portal, only taking two backup QBs in 2022 and 2023 who already had ties with the program.

It's no surprise his reaction to professional players coming back to college football is not positive.

“It’s embarrassing. I mean, it really is. We have no rules. There’s no governance. I mean, it’s a joke. There’s zero rules.

"And when you enforce rules someone just goes and finds a judge to say, ‘No, you can’t enforce that rule.’

"Never did I think we’d be living in an era like this, but that’s where we are,” said Swinney.

Kiffin set on welcoming NFL players onto LSU

Through the last few weeks, several professional players have expressed their interest in rejoining college football.

Kiffin has been very vocal about how he is just doing what's best for his program, and that anyone in his position would do the same

The main conferences in Division I, including SEC, ACC, Big Ten and Big 12, have passed new policies that ban professional athletes from returning to college.

It will definitely be a must-see game as LSU travels up to Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
