SEC vs. LSU: The battle against NFL players continues

The SEC may explore legal alternatives against LSU that could include boycotting competition, sanctioning the school with probation, expulsion, and even filing a federal legal challenge, per Yahoo Sports.
As reported last week, the SEC announced it will ban all professional athletes from returning to college sports, football included.
The Big Ten was the first one to do so, now followed by the ACC and the Big 12.
What could happen to LSU and Lane Kiffin?
Per Yahoo Sports, SEC general counsels and university presidents have had conversations in the early stages of what could happen to LSU.
There is a scheduled court hearing in Baton Rouge for this Thursday, where a judge will review the Louisiana eligibility case that gave players their first step to go back to college.
No decision is expected to be made until the hearing occurs.
A SEC school leader even said, "There are plenty of other schools that would take [LSU's] place," per Yahoo Sports.
At least three players have committed to LSU after having declared for the Draft and signing contracts with NFL teams.
Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris headline the Tigers' commits, as they played last season at Ole Miss under Kiffin.
Wright and Harris were part of the group of players who were granted a restriction order by a judge in Louisiana against the NCAA to be able to go back to college.
That same judge also approved a complaint to prevent the SEC from doing the same as the NCAA, meaning athletes could commit to a college within the conference.
This court decision could be what has moved SEC officials to act and bring in preventive measures.
It's unclear what could happen to LSU as an institution, but being kicked off the SEC is not something unthinkable at this point.
This will be a matter that could turn south very quickly if LSU doesn't align with the SEC's wishes.
