This came after the Big Ten became the first NCAA conference to enforce a prohibition of this nature.

On Wednesday, the conference declared what the consequences would be if a team were to violate this new policy, per Matt Norlander.

What this means for LSU and Lane Kiffin

As previously reported, Kiffin recruited two of his former Ole Miss players, Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, to play for him at LSU.

During Tuesday's meeting, per sources, the vote came to a unanimous 16-0 (including LSU) to create the new policy.

Both Wright and Harris, who have signed NFL contracts with the Browns and Saints respectively, fall under this new rule and are not eligible to return to college.

However, both former Ole Miss players were a part of the group of 16 former college football players who sued the NCAA and were granted a restraining order by a court in Louisiana.

CBS Sports reported that Kiffin and LSU have contacted players on active NFL rosters and have been encouraging them to sue the NCAA and return to college.

As the NFL's cut day approaches on Aug 30, the Tigers head coach has had conversations with players who are still on NFL training camps, per CBS.

Wright told 13WMAZSports that the players should not be the ones to blame, but the situation of it all.

"A lot of people want to put the blame on us athletes but it is also bad timing," Wright said.

"The people who are giving us a fifth year it's bad timing by them. If they were going to pass this they should have done it a long time ago.

"They should have done it earlier this year instead of letting people get to teams to where it is looking like 'oh now you're just leaving a team to go back to college.'"
