Old Joshua foe Ruiz 'hungry' after signing Matchroom comeback

Andy Ruiz Jr. has signed a multi-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing, with the star insisting he is "motivated" and "hungry" again.
The star, who famously handed Anthony Joshua a first career loss to become unified heavyweight champion, last fought in 2024.
But despite a two-year absence from the ring, the Mexican-American fighter believes he can still build his way back to the top.
Reports suggesting a bout with Damian Knyba in September could be a springboard - and one that Ruiz is determined to take.

"I had to be broken to be reborn," he issued in a Matchroom statement. “I feel right now I’m more strong mentally and physically
"I’m more hungry. I’m better than a lot of these other heavyweights that are out there right now.
"All the belts that everybody has, I want them. I want them back. I'm motivated, and I'm hungry from all the stuff that I've been through.”
Ruiz's lengthy periods of inactivity have hurt what should have been a standout legacy following his victory over Joshua back in 2019.
