Chris Eubank Jr. lifts lid on boxing future after Conor Benn rematch defeat

The star suffered a fourth career reverse against his rival in their middleweight rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month after victory in their first bout.

In the aftermath, Eubank Jr. alluded to issues beyond the public eye that he had struggled with around both fights, with major questions left about his future.

Taking to social media, the star announced he would step back from the sport to focus on his recovery, while thanking his supporters for their backing this year.

"I’ve been dealing with a lot of health issues over the last year," he wrote. It all finally caught up to me last month. I will not box again until I’m back to 100 [percent].

"I don’t know when that will be, but one [thing is] for certain  [...] I will do everything in my power to make sure that one day, the old me makes a big comeback."

Eubank Jr.'s post was accompanied by a clip of him in a hospital bed, seemingly receiving unspecified treatment from a team of doctors and medical professionals.

It ends speculation over the star's next move, having previously confirmed ahead of the rematch with Benn that he was also due to become a father to twins.

His rival meanwhile is currently chasing a return to welterweight, preferably for a world title, though other options such as Ryan Garcia have been touted.
