'My last fight!' - Benn plots welterweight exit after Garcia bout

'The Destroyer' will bid to become world champion next month in Las Vegas when he challenges the American for his crown.

It will mark Benn's first bout at 147 pounds since April 2022, having subsequently fought his contests as high as middleweight.

The Briton has been focused on launching a title bid in the division since beating Chris Eubank Jr. in last November's rematch.

But speaking to The Ring, he now acknowledges that a difficult cut will ensure this is his last time before moving back up again.

"It's hard, it's brutal," he stated. "This is my last fight at 147, and when I win the world title, I'll move on [to another weight class].

"For me, I haven't made 147 for four years. It's challenging, it's hard. It's hard getting it done. After this, I can do 154, 160 or 168."

News of Benn's welterweight exit could alert numerous rivals to his availability for early 2027, irrespective of his result versus Garcia.
