One of the most intriguing fights on the Katie Taylor-Flora Pili main card is a heavyweight battle featuring Dave Allen against Thomas Carty, live on DAZN.
Allen (27-9-2, 20 KOs) is one of Britain's most entertaining heavyweights and is in his first major fight since suffering a main event loss to current IBF titlist Filip Hrgovic in May. Sandwiched between the Hrgovic and Carty bouts are two lower-level wins against Ross McGuigan and Dan Garber.
Meanwhile, the hard-hitter from Ireland who is 11-1 with nine knockouts is looking for his major win on the big stage. At Thursday's press conference, it got testy at times between the two, including Allen letting Carty know what he plans on doing to him in two days' time.
"He's a good fighter," Allen admitted. "But I've been there with Hrgovic, (Luis) Ortiz. I boxed other Olympic medalists, two world champions. I've been in there with the best of them. I think he's a good fighter. But if you're not a very good fighter, I'll f—ing flatten you. I always have. In my career, I've flattened all of them.
"Saturday, again, at this level, against a good fighter. Because you are a proper and solid bloke. I like you. But I'll flatten him (Carty) one hundred percent. I don't have a doubt."
Carty responded in jest, letting his opponent know he isn't Johnny Fisher, who Allen went 1-1 against despite many feeling it should have been 2-0.
"If you think that I'm at the standard and level of Johnny Fisher, you got another thing coming," Carty fired off at Allen.
Britian's Conor Benn looks to become a world champion for the first time against US superstar Ryan Garcia on Saturday, September 12.
Watch the fight exclusively in the UK & Ireland and other territories (check for availability) on DAZN PPV or included in our Ultimate Tier subscription.
