Heavyweight Adeleye enters free agency, could signing with Matchroom or Zuffa Boxing be next?

Adeleye has not fought since August last year when he was beaten by Filip Hrgovic in a violent affair in Manchester. 

Announcing the news of his free agent status on Instagram, Adeleye thanked Warren for being his promoter since turning professional and expressed his excitement for what the future holds. 

"First and foremost, a massive thank you to everyone at Queensberry for all the years we’ve had together," Adeleye wrote. 

"I’ve been with Frank from the beginning of my professional career and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunities, the big nights and everything we’ve achieved along the way.

"After a lot of thought, I felt the time was right for a new challenge. I made the decision to see out my contract and not re-sign, so as of now, I’m officially a free agent.

"Now it’s time for the next chapter. I’m excited, hungry and ready to see what’s next.

"Let’s go!"

What next for Adeleye? 

Luckily for Adeleye, there are really only two promotions which could feasibly satisfy his ambitions of being a top-level heavyweight. 

Matchroom have a varied heavyweight stable, from superstar Anthony Joshua to exciting prospect Leo Atang, there is a chance for Adeleye to become one of the promotion's top heavyweight talents. 

The fact Matchroom has a global stable also means there is an opportunity for Adeleye to challenge international opponents rather than just sticking to domestic matters. 

Then there is Zuffa Boxing, who have proven themselves a disruptive force on the scene across the past year.

Zuffa are slowly building their heavyweight stable, and Dana White's promotion is looking to gain a foothold in the UK with the signing of fan favourite Johnny Fisher who makes his Zuffa debut on September 26. 

If Fisher is successful on his Zuffa debut, then an all-British showdown with Adeleye has the potential to be an exciting clash early next year.
