Haye suggests Itauma should face 'hungry' former world champion after Hrgovic defeat

On Saturday night, Moses suffered his first defeat after being stopped by Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF heavyweight title. 

Moses' fast start worked against him with the British fighter exhausted and on shaky ground when referee Howard Foster halted the contest in the ninth round. 

After being stretchered out of London's O2 Arena, Moses is set for a long period on the sidelines before lacing up the gloves once again. 

Haye names Ruiz as Moses comeback opponent

At 21 years old, Moses' boxing career is in its infancy, but the fact he is one of British boxing's biggest names means his return cannot be an underwhelming one. 

Speaking to Tris Dixon on Built Different Boxing, Haye explained why he wants Moses to take on Ruiz, the man who became world heavyweight champion after stopping Anthony Joshua seven years ago. 

"He needs somebody like Andy Ruiz Jr. That’s the type of fighter he needs, someone who is the real deal, someone who has been heavyweight champion," Haye said.

"Someone who’s hungry, he’s always in good fights, someone who will bring the pressure, the high volume, which will force Moses to be uncomfortable.

"That’s the type of fight he needs to grow. He needs the fear factor."

Ruiz himself is hoping to be on a comeback trail to the top of the heavyweight division. 

The American fights for the first time since August last year when he faces Damian Knyba on Friday night live on DAZN.
