Hrgovic makes astonishing claim about Moses ahead of world title fight

The pair are set to do battle for the vacant IBF world heavyweight title on Saturday night, exclusively live on DAZN PPV and Ultimate Tier. 

Moses, at 21 years old, is bidding to become the youngest world heavyweight champion since Mike Tyson, while Hrgovic, who is 13 years older, is hoping to become Croatia's first-ever world heavyweight champion.

Hrgovic is the vastly experienced fighter, both in the amateur and professional codes, and in the build-up to his showdown with Moses has been quick to point out that his British rival has had an easier route to the top. 

In an interview with DAZN News' Eze Obasi, Hrgovic claimed that if Moses was Croatian, he would not be a knockout artist; he would instead be working in McDonald's as a result of not being able to cope with the struggles that come with trying to make a boxing career in a lesser nation.

"If he was born in Croatia, he would work in McDonald's drive-thru because he would not be able to handle it," Hrgovic said. 

"There are a lot of struggles when you are coming from a small country to fight, especially to be successful, it’s very hard if you are coming from a small country."

Hrgovic continued this theme of Moses struggling with the pressures that come with being a top boxing talent at just 21 years old. 

The Croatian even suggested that the best thing for Moses on Saturday night would be to lose the fight, as a win would, in his words, "ruin his life". 

"The best thing for him would be losing this fight," Hrgovic continued. 

"That will be the best thing for him as a fighter and a person, he’s young. If he wins a title while being so young he’s going to ruin his life, his soul, he would not be able to handle the pressure.

"I’m a different kind of animal, I’m 35, I’ve been through a lot of things in life so I can handle it much better. For him to be world champion, it will be too much for him."

While Hrgovic has come out swinging outside of the ring, he will need to back up these words and prove Moses will indeed struggle with the demands that come at world level come the opening bell at London's O2 Arena.
