The Briton had hoped to become the division's second-youngest-ever champion at London's The O2 Arena, but dramatically punched himself out.

Yet the star was not the only major name in the headlines across one of the sport's biggest weekends of the year as the summer comes to a close.

Moses falls to stunning defeat

Long tipped for the blue-riband class summit, Moses was widely expected to prevail in the capital, and domianted the early exchanges.

But the 21-year-old ran out of gas the longer the contest wore on, and entered the ninth round looking an exhausted shell of himself.

Key lessons will be learned from this first career reverse, but it made for a chastening and bitter bump on the road for the star's plans.

Hrgovic realises major dream

Credit is due to his opponent however, who weatherd eight rounds of punishment with a chin made of granite and a spirit cloaked in fire.

Having waited patiently over the past few years for his opportunity, Hrgovic was technically outboxed here - but worked smartly for the win.

His next move should be a mandatory bout with Frank Sanchez, though the Croatian is already pushing for unification opportunities instead.

Cameron stuns Mayer to unify

Victory for Hrgovic was not the only eye-catching result, as Chantelle Cameron unified at super-welterweight against rival Mikeala Mayer.

A testy build-up for the Most Valuable Promotions headliner in Birmingham was bore out in a cracker of a bout that saw the Briton prevail.

There was joy on the same bill for Caroline Dubois too, who handily defended her WBC and WBO lightweight titles against Amelia Moore.

Dubois-Wardley II announced

Daniel Dubois meanwhile finally confirmed what many have expected for months - that he will meet Fabio Wardley for the second time too.

The former will defend his WBO heavyweight title against the latter after dethroning him in May, with a trip to The O2 Arena set for October 17.

Dubois and Wardley shared the ring for a face-off before Moses-Hrgovic kicked off, with 'Dynamite' in little mood for pleasantries once more.

Fury-Joshua hangs in balance

Does anybody know what is going on with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua? Is one of the sport's biggest-ever bouts truly at risk of collapse?

It depends who you believe. The push to take the pair's heavyweight clash to America seems to remain a major sticking point for the latter.

Fury, out on social media over the weekend, insists he is ready to go. But it seems there is still work to be done to keep this clash on track.
