Frank Warren: A Tyson Fury vs. David Haye fight would be huge

The immediate focus for Fury is his October 9 trilogy meeting with Deontay Wilder, and if he's again successful against the hard-hitting American then it’ll be all eyes on the winner of Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk. 

However Haye namedropped Fury following his win on Saturday over his friend Joe Fournier, an entrepreneur who occasionally dabbles in combat sports. Haye hasn't fought properly competitively since a pair of career-ending defeats to Tony Bellew, but his mainstream appeal remains strong.

Despite a structured plan being in place to enhance Fury’s legacy against the heavyweight division's biggest names, Warren couldn’t deny the size of a potential fight between Haye and Fury, almost a decade on from when the vocal pair were due to meet. 

“I'm sure he's calling out Tyson because him and Tyson, let's get it right, would be a huge fight,” said the Hall of Fame promoter when speaking to IFLTV.

“But I think he's got to do a bit more before talking about Tyson Fury. Number one, he'd have to get rated, and to get rated you've got to fight a rated fighter. 

“He suffered some bad injuries and certainly against Tony Bellew. I'm in shock to be quite honest because I fancied David Haye. Having said that, he obviously had these injuries and he shouldn't have been in the ring in the first place. I don't know whether he's got rid of the injuries or not.”
