Gervonta Davis warns possible fight with Tevin Farmer can't be on East Coast due to their bad blood
After demolishing Ricardo Nunez via a second-round TKO last month, WBA super featherweight champion Gervonta Davis didn't waste any time saying he wants IBF titleholder Tevin Farmer in a unification bout next.
"Tank" just warns that the fight shouldn't be in his hometown of Baltimore, Farmer's city of Philadelphia, New York City or anywhere on the East Coast for that matter because of their bad blood, which goes back roughly three years, according to Davis.
"I think somebody is going to get hurt that night. No ... I'm talking about outside the ring," Davis said during an appearance on The Breakfast Club earlier this week, referring to why the fight shouldn't take place in close proximity to them. "It's gotta happen in Vegas or L.A. or something. It can't happen in like New York.
“Philly and Baltimore are just alike ... both of us are aggressive,” he added moments later.
The back and forth Twitter trash talk between Davis (22-0, 21 KOs) and Farmer (30-4-1, 6 KOs) over the years has led to heated confrontations between the boxers.
Following Vasiliy Lomachenko’s victory over Jason Sosa in Maryland back in April 2017, Davis and Farmer exchanged words with “Tank” telling him, “Why would I fight you? I’m the champion and you’ve got four losses.”
That was before Farmer had a title of his own. After he won the IBF strap in August 2018, the conversation shifted.
When the two rivals had a run-in during the Danny Garcia-Shawn Porter fight in Brooklyn in September 2018, Farmer told Davis: “When are we gonna make it happen? You said get a belt. I gotta belt.”
Their trash talk has continued ever since, with Farmer saying just earlier this week that he’s going to get a jump on having his ring attire made for their eventual clash, to which Davis responded with:
"Me and Tevin have been beefing for so long," Davis told The Breakfast Club . "We'll probably fight before the fight.
"I ain't gonna lie ... I don't like him. I just don't like him. Me and him been going at it for so long, it's just like 'I don't like you at this point.'"
