The knock in the past on Jarrell Miller has been his weight. There have been times when he's come in at over 330 pounds. His last fight back in January against Kingsley Ibeh, Miller weighed in at 317 pounds.
But things were different for "Big Baby" when he tipped the scales ahead of Saturday's Matchroom Boxing headliner against Lenier Pero in a WBA heavyweight title eliminator from the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, live and exclusively on DAZN.
Miller looked svelte and in the best shape we have seen in quite a while, weighing in at 305 pounds , while Pero tipped the scales at 251.4.
“We seen what I was when I fought Andy (Ruiz),” Miller said to DAZN’s Chris Mannix and Sergio Mora after the weigh-in. “I said I didn’t maintain any weight training for that fight. I felt very weak in that fight.
“There is no love lost in this fight between me and Pero. I’ve been weight training, doing my diet and doing what I need to do."
For Miller (27-1-2, 22 KOs), it's a must-win situation. A victory puts him right in the thick of things and in a significant next. However, a defeat sends the 37-year-old to the back of line. The mission for the New York native is simple.
"Come Saturday night, I’m putting him to f—ing sleep."
