I have faced Joshua, Parker, and Miller, but who is the weakest puncher I have ever faced?

Ruiz enjoyed the biggest night of his career in 2019 when he stunned Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden, climbing off the canvas to stop the Brit and become the first boxer of Mexican heritage to win a heavyweight world title.  

Although Joshua avenged that defeat later the same year, Ruiz has remained a recognisable name at the business end of the division, and he is back in action this weekend when he faces Damian Knyba in New Jersey.

During his career, he has been in with Joshua twice, shared rounds with Luis Ortiz and Joseph Parker, and he’s also faced Jarrell Miller in a fight where both men had spells of success.  

Ruiz’s experience against elite heavyweights means he is qualified to speak about the division's most dangerous threats, and he has been discussing the attributes possessed by his former opponents. 

Asked to name the weakest puncher he has faced, Ruiz did not point to one of his lower-profile opponents. Instead, he named Miller, insisting that the American was unable to make a serious impression when they fought to a draw in 2024. 

“Probably Jarrell Miller, because I let him hit me with everything he had, even with my hands down and he still couldn’t hurt me,” said Ruiz when speaking to Casino.org. 

“So, I don’t think Miller has a very strong punch.”
