Jarrell Miller hoping to make return to ring before end of 2019
Jarrell Miller is ready to put his past indiscretions behind him and jump back into the boxing ring.
After a few months off following failed drug tests and a canceled heavyweight title bout against Anthony Joshua, "Big Baby" and his promotional team are targeting a fight before the end of 2019.
"We are working on possibilities and hope to have Jarrell back in the ring before the end of the year," Miller's co-promoter, Dmitriy Salita, told Sky Sports.
Miller (23-0-1, 20 KOs) was previously slated to battle Joshua on June 1, but blood and urine samples collected by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) ahead of the fight showed the 31-year-old tested positive for multiple banned substances, including human growth hormone and EPO. Miller was removed from the card, costing himself the biggest payday of his career — and a chance at Joshua's belts. To make matters worse, the WBA slapped him with a six-month suspension.
Andy Ruiz Jr. replaced Miller and shocked the boxing world by defeating Joshua via seventh-round TKO. Ruiz will face Joshua in a much-anticipated rematch on Dec. 7 in Saudi Arabia while Miller, now free from his suspension, will look to pick up the pieces and hit the reset button on his career.
Miller last fought on Nov. 17, 2018: a knockout victory over Bogdan Dinu.
