Sains banks on hard work to maintain unbeaten streak

Jimmy Sains has left no stone unturned ahead of his shot at the vacant Commonwealth title against Tom Cowling.
The undefeated middleweight, 25, steps into the ring at the Copper Box on Saturday night for the 13th bout of his pro career, live on DAZN.
After pushing himself to the limit during a tough training camp under the watchful eye of Tony Sims, he is relishing returning to the venue where he beat Derrick Osaze in March.
“The training is very hard,” Sains told DAZN News. “By the time you get home at the end of the day, you're knackered.
“It can be a long day sometimes, but putting the hard work in makes fight night easier. I'm expecting a tough fight — that’s why I've prepared so hard.
“We've had some good world champions come from the gym. Tony doesn’t let just anyone come and train — you've got to be proven.
“Everyone's pushing each other. It's very competitive, but it's friendly competition. We're all pushing each other to do better.”
Having picked up three of his 12 victories at the Copper Box, Sains will be in familiar territory when he bids to inflict the second defeat on 29-year-old Cowling’s record.
And the English champ is determined to ensure that winning the Commonwealth strap vacated by stablemate, friend and fellow West Ham fan George Liddard is just the latest step up the ladder.
Sains added: “When I started out, Tony asked me what my ambitions were. I said I want to try and win as much as I can.
"Starting with the Southern Area title, English and now Commonwealth, I want to win the British after that and then obviously world titles. That's what I'm in the sport for, to win world titles.
“If I win the Commonwealth, I’ll maybe be looking at the British within the next six months.
“I've seen people like Spider [Craig Richards] box for the British title and then a world title next, so I'm not too far away.
“Maybe three or four good wins can put me in contention for a world title. I'm not in a rush, so one step at a time.”

With the experienced Sims in his corner and Matchroom Boxing supremo Eddie Hearn plotting his course, Sains is perfectly placed to achieve his goals.
The Essex fighter added: “The best advice Tony has given me is to be dedicated to the sport. We've only got one shot at this, so you've got to live the life.
"I believe Tony lives the life. He doesn't drink, very religious, training all the time. If you can do that outside of the gym when you're not in camp, it will help going forward.”
