Jose Ramirez returns from Josh Taylor setback to score win over Jose Pedraza

The 140lbs contender, once a unified ruler in his weight class, was having his first fight since losing to Josh Taylor in May last year. 

With the Scot looking extremely vulnerable in last week’s controversial win over Jack Catterall, it appears there could be fresh life breathed into the super-lightweight division, and Ramirez is likely to be a central feature.  

The Californian has operated on an elite platform for a while now and he’s showing no signs of slowing down following his win over Pedraza. 

Ramirez began the contest well, but he had to show some resolves in the fight’s middle rounds as Pedraza provided a sound reminder of his high-level credentials.  

Ramirez rallied in the fight’s later rounds and the judge’s scores of 116-112, all three in unison, was an accurate reflection. Ramirez will now push on towards his goal of being world champion again.
