Former world champion Brook teases 'massive fight' announcement

Brook has not fought since beating Amir Khan in their long-awaited grudge match stoppage in 2022. 

After overcoming Khan, Brook retired from boxing in what felt like a fitting end to a memorable career, but it looks like 'Special K' is preparing to return to the ring. 

Brook will return before the end of 2026

Brook was ringside for Saturday's rematch between Troy Williamson and Callum Simpson, and this was where he announced the news that he will be coming out of retirement before the end of the year. 

"I'm telling you something here and now, some massive news is about to drop," Brook told talkSPORT. "I'm coming back, there is big news of a massive fight coming your way."

"Back in the professional ring, British Boxing Board of Control, coming out of retirement."

When pressed to name an opponent, Brook would not reveal a name, but did confirm that his comeback fight will be at either middleweight or super middleweight. 

"I can't give anyone a clue over the opponent, but we won't be waiting much longer.

"It'll happen this year, it's about done. And we will be giving the fans another massive fight.

"I'll return at middleweight or super middleweight, around them divisions."

This will be the second time Brook is attempting to return to the ring after his clash with Eisa Al Dah, which was to pay tribute to the legendary Ricky Hatton, was cancelled due to tensions in the Middle East. 

When it comes to possible opponents, Brook has been constantly linked with Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr., and while Benn is returning to welterweight, Eubank Jr. could be in contention. 

The 36-year-old campaigns at either middleweight or super middleweight, and according to promoter Ben Shalom, an announcement surrounding his next fight is on the horizon.
