People will say, 'Well, he's only 20 years old and Usyk is a three-time undisputed and two-time undisputed heavyweight champion'. 

As the saying goes, 'Age is a number'. The saying applies here. 

Pundits felt Itauma hadn't truly been tested. They wondered how he'd fair against someone of the caliber of a former world title challenger in Whyte. 

He could have buckled under the pressure. Itauma remained cool, calm, and collected all fight week long. That patience extended into when he entered the ring, as Whyte made him wait a few minutes and test his nerves yet again. 

It's the kind of patience Itauma exhibited inside and outside the ring that shows he's ready for the challenge of the best heavyweight in the modern era. They both exhibit the same mindset but are 17 years apart. 

A passing of the torch is what happens in all sports. Boxing is no different. Joseph Parker might be the mandatory challenger, and that's all good and dandy. Parker isn't going anywhere and will someday compete to become a two-time heavyweight champion. He can take a side deal with the caveat of facing the winner.
