'That chapter is closed!' - No Fury trilogy for Usyk farewell

Oleksandr Usyk will not face Tyson Fury in his "last dance", with Sergey Lapin ruling out a trilogy bout with 'The Gypsy King'.
The Ukrainian confirmed his plans to fight on last Friday after he vacated his unified WBA, WBC and IBF heavyweight titles.
Rumours over who the star may face in a farewell fight have so far ranged from a Rico Verhoeven rematch to Deontay Wilder.
But speaking to Sky Sports News, Ready To Fight CEO Lapin has ruled out Usyk resuming his rivalry with old foe Fury again.

"I don't really see much point," he said. "Oleksandr has already beaten Fury twice and answered every question inside the ring.
"It's possible. But honestly [...] I believe that chapter is closed, and today that fight no longer carries the same level of interest."
Usyk previously defeated Fury in a blockbuster 2024 duology, earned undisputed status in their first encounter along the way.
The Briton is set to face Mariusz Wach in his second fight of 2026 this month, ahead of a long-awaited bout with Anthony Joshua.

If Oleksandr Usyk is to have one last outing in the ring, then the arguments against Tyson Fury make sense given past victories.
But at the same time, few options would be as commercially rewarding if the aim is to ensure one final payday with a "last dance".
Usyk's most lucrative bouts have come against 'The Gypsy King', along with fellow Britons Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.
A rematch with Rico Verhoeven, a crossover bout with Jon Jones, a dance with Deontay Wilder - all come with their own wins.
Yet if Usyk is seeking to put a definitive capstone on his career, Fury may still prove to be a surprisingly astute pick for the star.
