But the duo were not the only ones making waves in the ring - and beyond it - across a busy late July calendar that tipped into early August.

Zepeda downs Roach in style

In a Sin City shootout for the vacant WBC crown, many expected Roach to break his duff streak and prove his mettle once more.

It didn't go the way he hoped. Zepeda instead left Nevada victorious, bouncing back from his January defeat to Shakur Stevenson.

For the star, a former interim holder, it offered a sweet release. For his opponent however, serious questions must now be answered.

Chamberlain topples O'Leary

Originally set to meet this past spring before illness scotched their bout, the super-lightweight pair met their promise for a firefight.

As local hero, the undefeated O'Leary had hoped for a showman's performance - but instead found himself dropped three times.

Victory for Chamberlain offered 'Thunder' a taste of redemption too, banishing the sting of his 2024 shock defeat to Josh Padley.

Muratalla steady as he goes

Having defended his IBF lightweight crown against Andy Cruz back in January, Raymond Muratalla was on song once again here.

'Danger' turned over Robson Conceição in a relatively lopsided encounter to retain his strap on the Roach-Zepeda undercard too.

It was another shrewd turn from the star, who may now fancy a crack at unification against one of several rivals for his next bout.

Paul comeback imminent?

It's been more than half a year since Jake Paul had his jaw broken - twice - by Anthony Joshua in a lopsided contest last December.

But 'The Problem Child' is readying a return to the ring - and what's more, he's ready to crossover into a new sporting arena as well.

Paul has confirmed he is fielding offers for a comeback fight, and announced plans to compete in mixed martial arts in 2027 to boot.

Usyk still chasing Wilder

Two months on from his win over Rico Verhoeven in Giza, Oleksandr Usyk is edging closer to his self-proclaimed "last dance" fight.

If the Ukrainian gets his way, it will be against Deontay Wilder , with the former world champion squarely in the superstar's crosshairs.

Whether a bout materialises is another matter entirely - but Usyk is keen to get a deal done for his farewell encounter before he quits.
