On Saturday night, William Zepeda accomplished his lifelong goal of becoming the WBC lightweight champion by defeating Lamont Roach Jr. by unanimous decision at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas, live on DAZN worldwide, TNT, and TruTV in the second installment of 'The Fight".
Zepeda (34-1, 27 KOs) overwhelmed Roach from the outset and controlled the fight with his nonstop aggression and output.
In his post-fight interview, Zepeda told DAZN's Chris Mannix that becoming undisputed champion is the goal.

Abdullah Mason
With Raymond Muratalla likely to vacate the IBF title after his co-main event win over Robson Conceicao on Saturday and Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi likely meeting for the vacant WBA belt sometime in the fall, if Zepeda is serious about unifying, Mason is the logical choice here.
Mason successfully defended the WBO title in the first "The Fight" event on July 4. The timelines line up so both guys can get proper rest and face off in the fourth quarter of 2026 in a unification clash.
Gervonta 'Tank' Davis
A name that really didn't register on the radar until it started popping up on social media after the fight. In reality, it would be a good comeback fight. While not the unification he'd be desiring, Davis is still one of the top draws in all of boxing. Stepping inside the ring with Davis would help raise Zepeda's profile.
Zepeda's ferocious style and the great counter-punching of Davis would make for a highly entertaining fight.
