Raymond Muratalla: Is 140 pounds next or will he choose to defend IBF belt at 135?

Muratalla (25-0, 17 KOs) threw a curveball after the fight when he told DAZN's Chris Mannix during his post-fight interview that he'd be moving up to 140 pounds because the weight cuts are getting more and more difficult. 

So where does Muratalla go from here?

IF Muratalla stays at 135 and doesn't relinquish the championship, this is THE fight to make. It would be the biggest fight in the division. The new WBC champion and Muratalla only know one speed, and that's forward with nonstop aggression. 

The fight is easy to make since both guys fight on DAZN. Of course, there is the financial side. And that's going to be the tricky part. Is there a price that would be enticing enough for Muratalla to make one more walk before making a permanent jump above 135 pounds? 

We will find out.

Sandor Martin

Many will be shocked at this name. Jumping right into the deep end and facing one of the top guys at super lightweights like WBC titlist Dalton Smith, WBO champion Shakur Stevenson, or Gary Antuanne Russell is a tough ask and not fair to ask Muratalla to do that. 

Enter Martin, who is ranked No. 7 by Ring Magazine. He beat former world champion Mikey Garcia in October 2021, came up just short against Teofimo Lopez in December 2022, and Alberto Puello in March 2025.

Martin would be a good litmus test to see where Muratalla would stand among one of the deepest divisions in boxing.
