Rico Verhoeven has called for Oleksandr Usyk to agree to a rematch after his appeal to overturn the result was dismissed.
The Dutchman suffered a late defeat against the unified heavyweight champion in Giza last month in controversial circumstances.
His team subsequently appealed the result, though the kickboxer confirmed they had been unsuccessful earlier this week.
Taking to Instagram afterwards, Verhoeven doubled down on his requests for a rematch though, while praising his opponent.
"This has never been about taking anything away from Oleksandr," he said. "He's one of the greatest fighters of this generation.
"What stays with me is the feeling that, after eleven unforgettable rounds [...]Â the story simply stopped before it reached its ending.
"Everyone deserved the chance to see how this fight was meant to end. I never got [it ...] and Oleksandr was denied the opportunity.
So for me, the conclusion is actually very simple. Let’s finish the story and give the fans that immediate rematch. I’ll be ready, Usyk."
