On January 2, 2021, from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, Garcia took on Luke Campbell for the interim WBC lightweight title. Campbell made things difficult for Garcia in the early stages of the fight, but the California native flipped the script to win by stoppage to capture his first championship.
