Three possible opponents for Canelo Alvarez after defeating Edgar Berlanga

With this solid body of work to show for 2024, the unified super middleweight world champion has plenty of fight options ahead.

Here, DAZN takes a look at three possible opponents for the face of boxing following his latest victory.

Terence Crawford

We know that Crawford is willing to move up from 154 pounds to 168 pounds to challenge the king, but Alvarez largely dismissed any chatter about the dream fight while preparing for the Berlanga bout.

However, now that it's over, perhaps Canelo would be willing to sit down with Crawford and Turki Alalshikh to iron out the terms and cement what would be an absolute mega bout.

Crawford, while sitting next to Alalshikh at UFC 306 on Saturday night, once again called out Canelo and posted the video for all to see on his Instagram.

David Benavidez

A large segment of boxing fans and critics believe that Canelo should fight the undefeated Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) who moved on to become the WBC interim light heavyweight champion after not getting the Alvarez fight.

That being said, Benavidez would meet Canelo at any weight if the face of boxing would accept the challenge.

The bout would present Alvarez with the opportunity to hand the 27-year-old Benavidez his first pro loss and silence any lingering critics for good.

Winner of Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev

Bivol and Beterbiev fight for the undisputed light heavyweight crown on October 12. 

Canelo has history with Bivol, having lost to the Russian fighter via unanimous decision in May 2022.

Perhaps Alvarez would be willing to face the winner of Bivol-Beterbiev ... especially if the former emerges victorious as it would present the Mexican superstar with the chance to avenge a loss.
