Two of British boxing's most bitter rivals confirm huge rematch

The fight will be live and exclusive on DAZN on Saturday, August 8 at the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds.

The bout follows their explosive first meeting in December 2025 that saw Williamson floor Simpson four times in the tenth round before forcing a stoppage to grab a TKO victory to claim the British, Commonwealth and European super‑middleweight titles.

Callum Simpson has finally got his own way and he will have the opportunity to settle the score with Troy Williamson after their brutal clash last Christmas.

With victory, Williamson believed he could push on with his own career and there was even speculation that a world title fight awaited the man from Darlington in the early stages of 2026.

Simpson's rematch clause has prevented Williamson from moving on towards world level, but the bad blood should only serve fight fans well as this time around promises to be more dramatic than their first encounter.

Respect should have been aplenty following the conclusion of their inaugural bout, but with Williamson eager to test himself on the world scene, and Simpson unable to get the first result out the system, a rematch is a must for what has become one of the nastiest rivalries in British boxing.

For Williamson, a second win will surely elevate him towards a world title chance either late this year or early next. But if he can't find a way past Simpson for a second time, he could be back at square one as he watches his bitter foe move towards the super-middleweight division's best fighter instead.
