The first round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs is in the books, and we are now in round two. You can watch every game of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs live on DAZN (except in the US and Canada).
The field has narrowed down to eight teams with the second round beginning this past Saturday. On Sunday evening, we saw a close Game 7 and a shootout in Colorado.
Canadiens hold off the Lightning
With 11:07 remaining in the game, Alex Newhook scored the winning goal to give the Montreal Canadiens a 2-1 victory and propel them to a 4-3 series win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
It was only the third time in Stanley Cup Playoff history that every game in a seven-game series was decided by one goal.
Now, the Canadiens advance to the second round to face off with the Buffalo Sabres beginning on Wednesday.
Avalanche win thrilling Game 1 with combined 15 goals
If the type of play we saw on Sunday night is any indication, a fun series is ahead. The Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild put on an offensive exhibition with the President's Trophy winner coming out on top by a 9-6 score.
The game was tied at five heading into the third period, but the Avalanche outscored the Wild 4-1 to take a 1-0 series lead.
Game Two is on Tuesday in Colorado.
