Tottenham kicked off their 2026-27 campaign in the worst possible way, as they looked to move on after last year's battle against relegation.
Ahead of their opener against Brentford on Saturday, there was renewed hope throughout the North London club that with Roberto De Zerbi at the helm and an array of new big-money signings, the new season would be a fresh start for Spurs.
Those hopes quickly diminished, with the Bees comfortably seeing off their London rivals with a 3-0 win, and the manager admitting his side were still not completely ready for the new term.
Despite the defeat, attention turns to Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash with Championship side Charlton, with the expectation that they will progress to the next round.
The Addicks have made an impressive start to their campaign, with two straight wins, one of which came against West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Yet, speaking on talkSPORT, host and former Spurs midfielder Jamie O'Hara thinks De Zerbi's side losing their cup tie is an almost impossible scenario.

"They are a good team, Charlton," O'Hara told co-host Jason Cundy.
"If Tottenham get knocked out of the cup by them, though, alarm bells will start ringing.
"It's not happening though. It's almost impossible to lose that game. We won't lose that game."
O'Hara also admitted that one of the reasons that Spurs have been almost left behind in the Premier League is because so many of the other teams have got so much better.
Describing the quality in the league, he said that teams like Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham are all 'decent' outfits and struggled to find many names that Roberto De Zerbi's side are actually better than.
