Tottenham eye blockbuster signing as Richarlison edges towards exit

A summer of change in North London has already seen Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka join Spurs.

But with Roberto De Zerbi admitting Richarlison’s future is up in the air, talk of a sensational swoop for Osimhen will have fans licking their lips.

De Zerbi had the Brazilian to thank on Saturday as his late tap-in helped 10-man Tottenham beat bitter rivals Chelsea 2-1 in front of a bumper crowd in Sydney.

Richarlison, 29, has entered the final year of his contract and his manager is not certain he will still be part of the squad by the time Spurs kick off their Premier League campaign at Brentford on August 22.

“He's unbelievable in terms of attitude and behaviour,” said De Zerbi. “But in the end, we have to respect what he wants to do.

“Sometimes he says he wants to stay, sometimes he wants to leave.

"For me, he's still an important player because it's not easy to find another striker like him. Richarlison scores goals. He knows the way. With any new striker, we don't know.

"He scored 12 goals last season, not because of luck but because he knows how to score.

"All of us love him — his team-mates, the club and the staff — because he works hard every day, seriously every day.”

Having already spent £237million during the summer transfer window, reports suggest it will cost £65m to prise Osimhen from Galatasaray.

The Nigerian, 27, scored 22 goals and provided eight assists in 33 appearances in all competitions last season as the Turkish giants retained their Super Lig crown.

He would add some much-needed firepower to a side that narrowly avoided relegation last term, with Dominic Solanke managing just three goals in the league and three in Europe during an injury-hit campaign.

While the Tottenham faithful may have to face up to life without Richarlison, they could soon have another hero to worship.
